Bio:

Mary Ann Hughes, MBA, founder of Special Family Transitions, is a Certified Divorce Coach committed to helping families through the overwhelm and complexities of divorce involving children with disabilities.  In addition to being a Certified Special Needs Divorce Coach, Certified Divorce Specialist, and Mosten-Guthrie Disability-Informed Professional, Mary Ann recently attended the Harris County DRC Basic Mediation course, and Dr. Manousso’s Advanced Family Mediation and Parenting Coordinator/Facilitator training courses, to provide additional supports and transition options to special needs families. 

Mary Ann is the Co-Director of the Special Needs Chapter of the National Association of Divorce Professionals and the Education Lead for the Divorce Coalition, a new endeavor to help divorce professionals support those who experience domestic violence. As the mother of sons on the autism spectrum, she has over 20 years of personal experience in special needs, and is also a graduate of the LoneStar LEND Leadership Education in Autism & Neurodevelopmental Disabilities program. Mary Ann was recently recognized by SAFE Diversity Communities as a Women’s History Month Hero for her work in the special needs community.
