New Opening - Respond by February 23, 2010 Meridian Institute has immediate openings for the position of Mediator in our Washington, DC and Dillon, CO offices. These positions offer the opportunity for significant learning and advancement in a challenging and interesting field.
Meridian Institute is a non-profit organization whose mission is to help people solve problems, make informed decisions, and craft solutions to address society’s most complex and controversial issues. We accomplish this by designing and applying collaborative approaches, including facilitation, mediation, and strategic consultation. Our work focuses on a wide range of issues such as climate change, food security, emerging technologies, public health, and sustainability. The Mediators will work closely with Meridian Institute’s experienced senior staff to:
· Interview participants and key thought leaders as part of “convening” activities · Design and facilitate effective meetings as appropriate · Provide meeting support and follow-up through the drafting and circulation of negotiation texts and other meeting documentation · Develop proposals and project budgets · Serve as a liaison with support staff on administrative and logistical matters
Please note that we are seeking candidates who already possess knowledge and skills in third-party facilitation/mediation, collaborative problem-solving and /or dispute resolution. Successful applicants will have strong oral and written communications skills, will be effective working with people and will be highly organized. The applicants should also be self-starters with a high level of initiative and should possess strong analytical and problem solving skills. A high degree of proficiency with word processing software, internet usage and electronic communications is a must. A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study is required. An advanced degree in a relevant field is preferred. Domestic and international travel is expected.
